DREAMFINDER NEWS MARCH 2009
A whole 6 weeks has flown past since I last wrote with news during which time UK was overwhelmed by snow and debt and we have been overwhelmed with projects and enquiries. Barack Obama was also inaugurated since we last wrote and his speech had to be one of the most inspiring that I have heard in recent times.
SOULED OUT is nearing picture lock. I was fortunate enough to go see the latest cut a few weeks ago and its looking really good. Youthful, humorous and feel good were the three words that spring to mind. Tonight we have another test screening in Birmingham. It will be really interesting to see what an audience make of it.
One of the biggest pieces of work that we have been involved with is a consultancy for the Producers' Forum. I have undertaken a Feasibility Study into the potential of the Forum expanding its remit to encompass all screen media and to promote an agenda of convergence and collaboration. I have been speaking to companies, organisations and individuals involved across the whole of the screen sector in the West Midlands and it has been really interesting. The Producers' Forum has been such an important and influential organisation in the work of many of the film producers in the region and from a personal point of view it has really helped to have access to top level industry speakers without having to travel to London to hear them.
When not involved in this we have been moving forward with our slate of projects and most notably, the Michael Bentham thriller project which is now called DEADLOCK. Looking back at previous news pages I see that this is the third time that I write about a title change, but we hope that this will be the one!
We have attached Rick Warden to play the role of the Stranger. His credits include SHACKLETON, BRIDE AND PREJUDICE, IMAGINE ME AND YOU and APPARITIONS. Vladimir Trivic is attached as our DOP, Richard Hudson as Production Designer and the mighty Paul Davies as to design the sound for the film. His film credits include, BULLET BOY, THE PROPOSITION, ADULTHOOD and BOY A. Sound design will be of the utmost importance in creating the right atmosphere and tensions within the film.
I have also been feeding into the script development process for AFTER THE DEATH OF ALICE BENNETT. The script is moving forward well and we know where we want to go in the next draft.
There is a first draft for THE SHOW MUST GO ON, the co-production between Vertigo Films and Dreamfinder. Vito Rocco, writer/director of this project recently premiered his debut feature FAINTHEART to great critical acclaim and good audiences. Vito is very talented with a particular comedic take on life.
I guess that's it for now and I'll leave you with the quote:
"The inconvenience of choice is the quintessential post modern complaint."
