DREAMFINDER NEWS SEPTEMBER 2009

Shamefully it's been several months since I last wrote any news. I was working full-time on DOCTORS for 4 months which was, as ever, an extraordinary experience with an incredible team of people. It never ceases to amaze me the quality of writing and directing that this BBC drama attracts and I was delighted to dip my toe into it again.

Meanwhile Dreamfinder projects have been progressing well and there is now a full marketing package available for anybody interested in reading about or investing in DEADLOCK, an explosive psychological thriller from Michael Bentham. We are now financing with a view to shooting early next year. If you would like to receive a package please e-mail natasha@dreamfinder.net

AFTER THE DEATH OF ALICE BENNETT has received funding for a second draft and the very talented Colin McLaren is underway. The script is developing really well and we hope to head towards a shoot next year.

Vito Rocco's second project with working title THE SHOW MUST GO ON is also underway in development, this is a co-development between Vertigo and Dreamfinder. Vito directed the highly acclaimed FAINTHEART and it's likely that THE SHOW MUST GO ON will also bear some of the wonderfully comic touches that characterises Vito's work.

After a number of test screenings SOULED OUT has reached picture lock. We are now finalising the soundtrack and we are hoping that the film will launch at an international festival before going on general release.

In other areas of activity, we are working on a DVD for internal communications at the University of Birmingham. This sees a continuation of the highly fruitful relationship between University of Birmingham Media Centre and Dreamfinder Productions.

Finally we were approached to deliver presentation skills causes for CHANGES, an organisation that delivers courses around citizenship and empowerment. We have worked for this organisation in the past and we are really pleased to be doing so again.

Autumn is just round the corner and once again the summer has been and gone in a flash. The state of the film business seems to be, as ever, in real flux and the d-word is on everyone's lips. What remains to be seen is how digital really impacts on film and what that means for smaller independent companies.

I leave you with a quote:

"Imagination is more important that knowledge." EINSTEIN
